Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography / Therapeutic Radiography
Period of Training:- Two (2) years full time without vacation
Number of study hours (lectures,tutorials) = 840
Number of clinical hours = 2280
Medium of Instructions:- English
Entry Qualification:- G.C.E. (Adv. Level) Science Stream - Pass in three subjects including a Credit for Physics
Mode of Recruitment:- Calling for applications - published in the government gazette by the Ministry of Health-Sri Lanka
Followed by an interview.
Syllabus
First year (Common to both Diagnostic & Therapy fields)
Anatomy & Physiology & related pathology = 120 hours
General Physics & Radiation Physics = 230 hours
Hospital Practice & Care of Patient incuding medical terminology = 90 hours
Practical/Clinical experience = 1120 hours
Second year (Diagnostic Radiography)
Equipment for Diagnostic radiography = 100 hours
Radiographic Imaging = 100 hours
General radiographic Technique = 150 hours
Contrast Radiographic Technique = 50 hours
Practical/clinical experience = 1160 hours
Second year (Therapeutic radiography)
Radiotherapy Physics & equipment = 100 hours
Principles of Radiotherapy & Oncology = 100 hours
Radiotherapy Technique = 200 hours
Practical/Clinical experience = 1160 hours
Assessment & evaluation
Continuous Assessment & End of the year Examination consisting of Written examination, Practical work Assessment & Viva Voce
Pass mark for each section is 50%
